ESPN to televise Wimbledon through 2013 (AP)

ESPN will televise part of Wimbledon through 2013, agreeing to a six-year contract extension with The All England Club. The network announced Thursday that ESPN2 will air about 100 hours of the tournament each year, including one men's and one women's semifinal. As part of the new deal, ESPN will show matches online.

US names amateur teen to Fed Cup squad (AP)

Teenager Madison Brengle and former South African player Liezel Huber could appear for the star-deprived U.S. team in the Fed Cup semifinals against Russia. Brengle, an 18-year-old right-hander from Dover, Del., was one of the four players chosen Wednesday to represent the Americans next weekend in the best-of-five series.

Kuznetsova, Russia to face US in Fed Cup (AP)

Svetlana Kuznetsova will lead defending champion Russia against the United States in the Fed Cup semifinals next weekend. Russia captain Shamil Tarpishchev also Wednesday named Anna Chakvetadze, Dinara Safina and Elena Vesnina for the match, which will be held April 26-27 on clay at the Luzhniki indoor arena -- where Russia beat the Czech Republic in the Davis Cup quarterfinals last weekend.

Ferrer tops Almagro to win Valencia Open (AP)

Top-seeded David Ferrer won his first title of the year Sunday, rallying at the Valencia Open to beat two-time defending champion Nicolas Almagro 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 (2). Ferrer came back from a 5-2 final-set deficit to twice break Almagro's serve and force a tiebreaker. "It was the toughest tournament of my life," said Ferrer, who had saved two match points in a quarterfinal win over Fernando Verdasco.

Davis Cup schedule favors Argentina (AP)

This could finally be Argentina's year in Davis Cup. Thanks to the draw, Argentina will not have to leave home, where it hasn't lost in 10 years. The Argentines began their latest World Group campaign in Buenos Aires and could finish it there in their first home final in November. Their two previous finals, in 1981 and 2006, were both lost away.

Roddick to face Mathieu in Davis Cup (AP)

Paul-Henri Mathieu was selected to play Andy Roddick in Sunday's first reverse singles match of the Davis Cup quarterfinal between France and the United States. The U.S. leads the best-of-five series 2-1 and can advance to play Spain in the semifinals with a victory in one of the final two singles matches.

Russia reached the Davis Cup semifinals for the fourth consecutive year Sunday, eliminating the Czech Republic when injured Tomas Berdych quit during the fifth set against Nikolay Davydenko. The win gave Russia an insurmountable 3-1 lead in the best-of-five quarterfinal. Lukas Dlouhy of the Czech Republic beat Marat Safin 6-3, 6-3 in the meaningless second reverse singles to make the final score...

Spain knocks off Germany 4-1 (AP)

Having already advanced to the Davis Cup semifinals, Spain split its reverse singles Sunday and defeated Germany 4-1. Fernando Verdasco beat Germany's Michael Berrer 2-6, 7-6 (5), 6-4. Nicolas Kiefer gave Germany a consolation victory in the concluding match, downing Feliciano Lopez 6-4, 7-6 (2). Rafael Nadal and David Ferrer staked Spain to a 2-0 lead in Friday's opening singles.

Argentina beats Sweden to reach semis (AP)

Argentina eliminated Sweden from the Davis Cup on Sunday behind David Nalbandian's five-set victory over Robin Soderling, setting up a semifinal at home against Russia. Nalbandian won 6-4, 1-6, 4-6, 6-4, 9-7 on a windy day on clay in 4 hours, 15 minutes in the first reverse singles. The decision gave Argentina an insurmountable 3-1 lead in the best-of-five quarterfinal.

Davydenko, Andreev give Russia 2-1 lead (AP)

Nikolay Davydenko and Igor Andreev rallied to beat Radek Stepanek and Pavel Vizner 3-6, 6-3, 7-5, 6-4 in doubles Saturday, giving Russia a 2-1 lead over the Czech Republic in their Davis Cup quarterfinal. Both team captains made substitutions for the originally drawn doubles pairings. Andreev came in for Mikhail Youzhny and Stepanek substituted for Lukas Dlouhy.

Marat Safin overcame a two-set deficit to defeat Tomas Berdych 6-7 (5), 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 Friday and help Russia hold on for a 1-1 split against the Czech Republic on the opening day of the Davis Cup quarterfinals. In the second match of the best-of-five series, Radek Stepanek defeated Igor Andreev 6-3, 6-2, 6-4.

Australia and India took big strides toward qualification for the Davis Cup World Group by seizing 2-0 leads Friday in the Asia/Oceania Zone Group One. Australia leads Thailand after Chris Guccione overcame three match points to defeat Danai Udomchoke 6-7 (3), 7-6 (6), 4-6, 7-6 (6), 7-5. Lleyton Hewitt cruised past Kirati Siributwong 6-0, 6-0, 6-1.

Lleyton Hewitt and Paul Hanley won their Davis Cup doubles match against Thailand on Saturday to secure Australia a berth in the playoffs for the 2009 World Group. Hewitt and Hanley beat Weerapat Doakmaiklee and Kirati Siributwong 6-3, 6-1, 6-0, adding to Friday's two singles victories to tie to secure a 3-0 win in their Asia/Oceania zone Group One second round tie.
