Sharapova moves to clay at Bausch & Lomb (AP)

Hard courts have been very good to Maria Sharapova so far this year. Now she’s getting a head start on clay. Sharapova, who already won the Australian Open and is 18-1 to start 2008, switches surfaces this week, playing on clay for the first time this year at the Bausch & Lomb Championships. Fresh off a two week break, Sharapova will make her first career appearance at the tournament.

Bloody Youzhny becomes online celebrity (AP)

A tennis tantrum by Russian Mikhail Youzhny left him bloodied but made him a YouTube celebrity. When Youzhny hit a backhand into the net during his third-round match Monday at the Sony Ericsson Open, he angrily whacked himself in the head three times with his racket strings. The forehand to the forehead sent a thick stream of blood running from above his hairline down his nose nearly to his mouth.
