Goran Ivanisevic will be questioned by police after a photographer said the former Wimbledon champion attacked him and smashed his camera. Boris Beribak of the local tabloid Story said Ivanisevic assaulted him Monday while he and other photographers were waiting in front of his Zagreb home, police said.

Roger Federer won the Laureus World Sportsman of the Year award for a fourth straight time Monday, and Justine Henin won the women's award for the first time. Federer won his fifth straight Wimbledon title last season to equal Bjorn Borg's record. "I am thankful the jury didn't think three was enough," Federer said.
WTA Tour players' parents, agents, coaches and other entourage members must agree to allow criminal background checks if they want full access at tournaments. The new policy goes into effect Monday, when events start in Doha, Qatar, and Bogota, Colombia. It's part of a broader effort to protect players' safety and security.

By beating Roger Federer in an exhibition last year, Pete Sampras showed he still has some of the game that made him one of tennis' greatest players and led some people to wonder whether he retired too soon. Sampras isn't one of them. He's content with his decision to step away age 31 in 2002 with a record 14 Grand Slam titles.
