The No. 1 player wasn't even the most popular in his own group Wednesday, and that was OK with Tiger Woods. Roger Federer came out to watch him play Doral. "It's pretty neat when you have probably the most dominant athlete on the planet out there in your gallery," Woods said after his practice round for the CA Championship, where he is the two-time defending champion.
Amelie Mauresmo had an appendectomy and is expected to be sidelined a month. The fourth-ranked Frenchwoman underwent surgery in Paris. "The operation went well and all that's left for me is to wait patiently," Mauresmo said.

The chairman of the ATP took responsibility for the confusion on a ruling that eventually led to James Blake being removed from last week's round-robin tournament in Las Vegas. "Personally, I made a mistake," chairman Etienne de Villiers said Monday at a news conference promoting the Queen's Club grass court championships.
The Wimbledon warmup tournament at Queen's Club will use Hawk-Eye technology this year to resolve any line call disputes. The grass-court championships will be the first ATP tournament in Britain to use the video technology, organizers said Monday.
