Taylor Dent undergoes back surgery (AP)

U.S. Davis Cup player Taylor Dent had back surgery Wednesday and hopes to return to the tour before Wimbledon. Dent was ranked as high as 21st last year but he's only 1-4 in 2006 and has slipped to 65th on the ATP Tour. He hurt his back in Rotterdam in February. "This is a minor procedure and I hope to be back for the grass- court season," Dent said in a statement distributed by the ATP.
Bartoli, Morigami make Prague Open semis (AP)

Top-seeded Marion Bartoli advanced to the semifinals of the Prague Open with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Jarmila Gajdosova on Friday. Bartoli, reaching her first semifinal of the year, has recovered from an abdominal injury that forced her to retire in the quarterfinals of last week's Estoril Open in Portugal.
Haas, Murray withdraw from French Open (AP)

Tatiana Golovin of France and Peng Shuai of China have pulled out of the French Open on Wednesday because of injuries. Golovin, ranked 17th, has failed to recover from a right-foot injury picked up during Fed Cup play last month, and 32nd-ranked Peng has a left ankle injury, the French tennis federation said.
Federer handed first title of season (AP)

Roger Federer ended a long drought with his first title of the year, and it took a leg injury to his opponent to ensure victory for the world's top-ranked player. Federer captured his 54th career title Sunday, winning the Estoril Open when second-seeded Nikolay Davydenko retired with a left leg injury while trailing 7-6 (5), 1-2.
Henin beats Bondarenko in J&S Cup final (AP)

Justine Henin beat Alona Bondarenko of Ukraine 6-1, 6-3 Monday to win the J&S Cup for the second time in three years in a final delayed a day because of rain. "To wait yesterday was pretty hard," Henin said. "It's a little bit sad we had to play a final on Monday morning -- it's the first time in my career.
